Special Needs at Van Dyke Church

Special needs programming is a high priority for Van Dyke Church, located in the Tampa Bay Area. We aim to minister to your family and your special needs individual in as many ways as possible. Our weekly special needs program includes classrooms for children ages 3 ½ -11 (TLC), middle school and high school ages (SHINE), and adults (Angels) Sunday school programs. On Wednesday evenings we provide programming for middle and high school students as well as an adult bible study.

Throughout the year, we hold events for individuals with special needs including but not limited to, activities such as a respite care, week-long camps for both K-12th grade and Adults, Fall Festival and other special events.

If this is your first time joining us, please complete the online form provided so we may get to know your individual with special needs before they attend!

Our Sunday morning special needs programming is offered during our 9:30 a.m. service. We offer a one-on-one, self-contained classroom for ages 3 1/2-11 and middle school/high school age students. Please note, not every child needs a one-on-one buddy but may need a smaller classroom environment. This program includes an adapted curriculum focusing on God’s word and the lessons are taught through hands-on activities, music, and crafts. Please complete the online form or for more information please contact our Special Needs Ministry Director, Pam Kepley

For adults with special needs, we offer a self-contained adult special needs Bible study during the 9:30 a.m. service. Please complete the provided online form so we will know more about the adult attending.

Throughout the year, we host respite programs designed for families who need a break. The Embrace respite care program provides a morning out every third Saturday of the month, during the school year. Our goal is to support you and to provide a fun, safe place for your child while you have a much-deserved morning out. It is designed for children 4 to 16 years of age, and usually meets the third Saturday of each month. The individuals are paired up with a buddy as they rotate through various fun stations, including arts and crafts; bounce houses, manipulatives, music and games.

Please fill out the "Embrace Registration Form"  to register. For more information about Embrace Respite Care, contact Pam Kepley at pkepley@bayhope.com.
